In this article, we are going to delete from three different methods. One is from Windows Apps or Program and Features, and the other is Avast removal software and Ccleaner.
But first, let’s discuss Avast antivirus.

What is Avast Antivirus Software?
I’m a regular antivirus user, whether it is paid or free. But in the case of Avast Antivirus, I am very satisfied with the free version. In this free version, they use AI/ smart analytics to stop threats before affecting your computer. This AI can detect different activities like viruses, malware, spyware ransomware, and phishing.
Free Avast Antivirus features include:
- AI Antivirus,
- CyberCapture
- Wi-FI Inspector
- Smart screen.
With this so many features, but still, the free version cannot remove viruses, malware, and ransomware.
So, with this intent, I was heading for deleting Antivirus, but surprisingly it wasn’t easy.
Method 1: Uninstall Avast Antivirus From Apps
- Click on Start>Setting>Apps>Avast Free Antivirus or Press Windows + I and select Apps
- Press on Uninstall, and again the Uninstall option will pop up; click there.
- After clicking uninstall, a new window will occur, click on Uninstall.
- Boom! Wait until the process is finished.
- After finishing, click on Restart. If you want to restart now, otherwise you can restart your computer later.
Note: Avast Antivirus has a special feature called Self-Defense Mode, which does not allow us to delete Antivirus. So, If you cannot delete from Apps, you have to first disable Avast’s self-defense feature and then uninstall the Antivirus.
To Disable Self-Defense in Avast Antivirus
Follow these procedures:
1> Open Avast Antivirus.
2> Click on Menu on top right sight (near cancel)
3> Drop down navbar will occur, click on Setting

4> New settings of Antivirus will occur, Select General and click on Troubleshooting.

5> Deselect the Enable Self-Defense to Self-Defense Mode off.
You can also delete this Antivirus from any Windows like 8,7 under the Programs and Features section.
Method 2: Uninstall Avast Antivirus from avastclear
The above method is the standard way to go-to apps and click on uninstall, but these methods cannot delete all files and folders in your Windows drive. For that reason, the avastclear tool is here.
But this method is a little bit tricky if you aren’t sure about it, leave it as it. Follow the above method by disabling Self Defense Mode on Avast Antivirus.
- Download the Official Avast Removal Tool and install it.
- Start Windows in Safe Mode. To Enable Safe Mode, follow this instruction.
- Restart your PC.At the sign-in screen, hold the Shift Key down while you select Power > Restart.
- After your PC restarts to the Choose an Option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- After your PC restarts, you can see a list of options. Select 4 or F4 to start your Device in Safe Mode.
- Now Open Avast Removal Tool (avastclear)
- Click on Remove (all of your files and cache will be removed)
- Boom! Finished. Restart your computer.
Method 3: Uninstall Avast Antivirus from CCleaner
CCleaner is the best option to delete any software which is installed on any computer. All types of Windows versions support this. So, if you’re from Windows 8 or even 7, you can follow this method.
CCleaner can check your device Health, Clean cache files, browser history, Uninstall hidden/not hidden software, Enable Disable software from Startup, Filter duplicate files from a computer for free. You can get more features with premium plans.
1: Download CCleaner and install it.
2: Open CCleaner and click on Tools> Avast Free Antivirus> Uninstall (on top right side of the interface).
3: After that, Click on Yes to allow delete and again Click on Uninstall.
4: Wait for the complete process. Once the process is complete, you can Restart your computer whenever you want.
Since I was also using Avast Secure Browser but because of heavy RAM and opening Automatically on startup, I force to remove Browser.
No doubt they have fantastic features on each tool, but with a lack of supported tools on Operating and their version, they don’t perform as we expected. I deleted the Browser because my PC did not support Avast Antivirus on Windows 10 new updated version.
Therefore I notice that most Avast software only works fluently on Old versions of Device.
